This article discusses how to use ZenVideo AI to translate the subtitles of your video. Owners on paid plans and team members on select ZenVideo Enterprise plans can access this feature once the team Owner activates it.
If your video's original audio is in one of the supported languages and has a transcript, you can use ZenVideo AI Credits to translate its subtitles. AI translations are currently not supported on ZenVideo mobile apps.

Translating your video
You can pay for translations using AI credits. Read how at ‘About AI credits.’ Translation costs are calculated as:
10 credits per minute x Video length (minutes) x Number of languages selected
To translate your video’s subtitles using ZenVideo AI:
- First, confirm that your video has a transcript and that the transcript is accurate in the original language. You can view if your video has a transcript if a transcript button appears on its video settings page or if it has a transcription button on the video player.
- Select the AI Sparkles
from the lower-right corner of the video’s settings page.
- Select Translate Video
- Select Subtitles Only
- You can select more than one language to translate the subtitles.
- Select the number of speakers in the video from the dropdown menu or select Auto-select for ZenVideo AI to automatically detect the number of speakers in the video.
- Confirm the cost of your translation. You can begin the translation process if you have enough credits left in your ZenVideo AI credit balance. If you do not, you will be prompted to purchase the number of AI credits needed for the translation.
- The translation will begin after you confirm and accept the cost. The time it takes to translate your video is roughly proportional to its length.
- After completing the translation, you can manually edit your video’s transcript from the Languages menu of the video’s settings page.

When to translate your video in your workflow
We recommend translating your video at the end of your workflow when you are confident that you will not need to make additional edits to its content.
If you edit your video's original subtitle transcript after using AI translation, you must manually edit the transcript for each text track in the Languages menu of the video’s management page. The translated subtitles will not update automatically.
Additionally, if you edit your video using the following tools, you must re-translate it, as translations are not updated automatically:
- Editor
- Trimmer
- Text-based video editor
- If you replace your video
Retranslating the video after using one of these features will cost additional AI credits. You will not receive a refund for additional translations needed to reflect changes you’ve made to your video.
We strongly recommend manually reviewing and editing the translated subtitles for accuracy and clarity.
Our translation feature uses artificial intelligence. AI is experimental technology and may produce inaccurate, inappropriate, or otherwise unsuitable translations. While we strive to provide accurate translations, AI translations may not always be perfect and can sometimes misinterpret context, nuance, or intent.
