Set your video's viewing privacy before uploading

Before you add any videos to your ZenVideo account, you can configure a default privacy setting for all uploads by adjusting the privacy setting on the upload page. Set your upload default privacy settings

1. Log in to ZenVideo and navigate to your upload default settings.
   
   
2. Navigate to the Privacy section.
3. Use the settings here to determine what others can do with your uploaded videos, including:
   • Who can watch
   • Who can comment
   • Where they can be embedded
   • Whether viewers can download them
   • (Optional) Check the box next to Also apply to existing videos if you want to apply these settings to all of your videos.
   • Save your settings.

⚠️ Note: If you make any changes to a video's privacy in an app (such as the Mevo app, Final Cut, iMovie, or the ZenVideo app itself) that allows you to upload to ZenVideo from a source other than ZenVideo.com, any upload default settings you've set for your videos will be overridden. Any setting that is changed in an external app will take precedence over the upload defaults in the user's account settings. 

Default privacy settings for videos created in the ZenVideo video editor

Videos made with ZenVideo will always save with the following privacy settings by default: 

• Basic and Free accounts → Private
  
  • If you created a Free account on or after July 1, 2025 and are not located in the EU, UK, or Australia, then your default privacy will be Public.
    
• Plus and higher accounts → Unlisted
• Accounts set to Private mode → Hide from ZenVideo

The video’s privacy can be updated later on the video settings page by selecting the Privacy setting at the top right. 

Change the privacy setting on the upload page

You can change your video's privacy setting from the default option before you upload it.

1. On the upload page, locate default privacy setting indicator in the upper right corner, next to the search icon.
2. Select the shown privacy setting to open the Privacy panel.
   
   
3. Choose your desired privacy setting for your upload.
4. Proceed with uploading your video. The selected privacy setting will be honored.
5. You can always adjust your video's privacy setting on the video settings page.
