How to enable or disable default subtitles for new uploads

Automatic subtitles are enabled on uploaded videos by default as long as their preferred language is set to a supported language.

To turn this off:

1. Navigate to the Upload defaults section of your account settings.
2. By default, “Allow viewers to enable automatically generated captions” will be checked. Uncheck the box to turn this off.
3. Select Save.
4. Your videos will still be transcribed on the backend, but the captions will not be available to your viewers on future uploads unless you enable them on a specific video

How to enable and disable automatic captions on individual videos

You can enable and disable automated subtitles for an individual video on its’ settings page in the Library tab. 

To enable automated subtitles on individual videos: 

1. Select your video from your library to open its settings page. 
2. Select the Languages button from the panel to the left of the video. 
3. Under each language header (if your video has multiple languages), select the toggle to enable or disable subtitles.
