Watching HDR and Dolby Vision Videos

HDR videos will be marked with an HDR badge in the player or on the video page. Videos created and uploaded in Dolby Vision will be marked with a Dolby Vision badge. 

⚠️Note: Due to the many layers of transcoding that take place with HDR formats such as Dolby Vision, lower qualities of a video will be available first while additional transcoding takes place in the background. If you are uploading HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision videos, be sure to allow extra time for all of the renditions to be available.

Supported Viewing Environments

HDR and Dolby Vision videos should be playable as long as HEVC is available and you have a compatible display. Check this site to verify if your browser supports HEVC: caniuse.com/hevc.

If you view from an environment that does not support HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision, we’ll automatically default to standard SDR playback.

If your display supports HDR and has HDR enabled, you can view HDR renditions, regardless of the HDR type. If your display does not support dynamic HDR or does not support the same version as the video, it will be displayed using static HDR metadata.

• Safari 14+ (iOS or macOS Big Sur only)

• Chrome (HEVC, not Dolby Vision)
• Edge (HEVC, not Dolby Vision)
• Opera (HEVC, not Dolby Vision)

Supported Devices

• Apple TV 4K and above (connected to an HDR10-supported TV or monitor, using the ZenVideo Apple TV App, or while being cast to).
• iPhone 8 and above
• iPad Pro 2nd generation and above

Supported Operating Systems 

• iOS 11+/tvOS 18+
