Classic interactive video has some terminology that not everyone may be accustomed to. Here are some terms you should be aware of when learning about and using interactive features:
- Branching/Time Triggers: Jump between points in a video or pause the video to allow the viewer to choose their path.
- Click out URL: The action of going to another website from the video.
- Grab-net: This is the invisible click area of a hotspot. Note that if you’re adding a sticky hotspot, it also defines the pixel area of the object for accurate motion tracking, so it's worth spending a little time getting your grab-net just right.
- Pause point: A time trigger action that pauses the video at a set time. This is often used in branching experiences where the viewer is forced to take action (e.g., tap a hotspot or a button on an overlay) to continue the video.
- Hotspot: The hotspot is the area of the video that acts as a hitbox - clicking on the hotspot will lead to the content.
- iFrame: An iframe allows an external webpage to be placed inside another.
- Overlay: An Overlay is a pop-up that you'll add your interactive content to, whether it be an iframe, a video, a PDF, etc.
- Poster frame: This is the cover image of your video that greets viewers before the video starts.
- Save interactive settings: The save interactive settings button saves the hotspots and overlays you've designed for a given project as a template for use later on. You can access your custom fonts in the interactive studio.
-
FPS (Frames Per Second): A measurement of the number of frames rendered per second, indicating the smoothness of motion in visual content.
-
Milliseconds (ms): A unit of time measuring the duration it takes for a single frame to be rendered, influencing the responsiveness of interactive elements.
