Livestream Studio helps you to configure additional settings for your stream's output and response to specific situations.
These settings can be accessed by clicking the gearwheel icon in the upper right corner of the Studio interface and navigating to the Settings > Streaming menu. The details of what each of these settings does are outlined below.
- Hardware encoding: This option is only available on PCs equipped with integrated graphics cards that support video encoding. Read more at Hardware Encoding and Decoding with Livestream Studio.
- Antilag: Selecting 'On' for Antilag minimizes latency for viewers. However, if the encoding delay exceeds the selected Antilag Duration (detailed below), the frame buffer will clear. Disabling Antilag permits Tallowse cache to accumulate without clearing data, which leads to latency for your audience. Consequently, if maintaining low latency is essential for your stream, it is advisable to keep Antilag enabled.
- Key Frame Interval: Places keyframes into the stream to track changes in movement. Two seconds is a standard setting, but consider a shorter interval if your event involves a lot of motion.
- Encoder Queue: The number of frames that Livestream Studio will allow to build up before a stream terminates due to bandwidth or CPU issues.
-
Local MP4 Recording: Automatically records an .mp4 of your stream as a backup. It is strongly recommended to keep this feature enabled.
- Selecting 'Highest Quality Only' will record only in the highest bitrate and resolution that you are outputting (e.g., if your stream quality is 720p, 540p, and 240p, your backup file will record in 720p; whereas selecting 'All Qualities' will produce three separate recordings simultaneously, one for each quality).
- MP4 Recording Location: Select the location where the backup recording described above is stored. By default, your recordings will be saved to the Videos folder on your system's C drive; however, you can choose to save them elsewhere, such as on an external hard drive.
- Streaming Mode: Allows you to choose the outgoing frame rate. The higher the rate you choose, the greater the increase in CPU usage will be.
- Closed Captioning: If you need to ingest closed captions over SDI, you enable it here. Read more about Studio's closed captioning support.
