How do I trim my videos?

This article refers to the trimmer tool found on the video settings page for all uploaded ZenVideo videos. Use the trimmer to remove unwanted sections from the beginning and end of your video.

You can access the trimmer on the video settings page. Select Edit on the right-hand panel and then Trimmer.

To use the basic trimmer: 

1. Visit the video’s settings page and select the Editing button on the left-side panel. The button shows a pair of scissors. 
2. Select "Trimmer" from the panel that appears on the left.
3. Select and drag the trimmer handles at the beginning and end of your video to shorten or lengthen the duration.
   💡Tip: You can also untrim previously trimmed videos. Select the trimmer handles and drag in the opposite direction you used to trim to display the previously trimmed media. 
   
4. You can split your video into multiple clips by selecting and dragging the time indicator needle to the specified point in your video and selecting the Split button. ().
5. The clip will be split into two separate clips on either side of the time indicator needle. 
   
   
   • Each clip can be trimmed individually of the other or split further. 
   • You can also delete a clip by selecting it and clicking the Delete button.
     
     

💡Tip: Use the zoom slider to zoom in and out of the timeline to help you make more exact trims. 

How do I re-trim my video? 

If you want to re-trim your video from a previous version, you can try the following steps. 

1. Visit the video's management page and select the (...) menu in the top-right corner.
2. Select Version History.
   
   
3. In the Version History box, select the version of your video to which you'd like to restore it. 
4. Select the (...) menu next to the version and select Restore.
   
   

This will restore your video to its previous version. Follow the instructions listed above to re-trim the restored version of your video. 

If you are still unable to trim your video, please contact support for further assistance. Please include the URL for the video you would like to trim, along with the specific steps you used.

 ⚠️Notes: 

• Videos longer than 2 hours cannot be trimmed using the text-based video editor. However, they can be trimmed by using the trimming steps above. 
• Videos can be trimmed in units of 20 milliseconds (0:00:20) and above. 
• The tool is not enabled for 360-degree videos or videos uploaded to ZenVideo before October 2013.
• Currently, the trimmer is not enabled for VOD (video-on-demand) videos.
• If you would like multiple trimmed clips to be saved as separate videos, you will need to re-upload your original video to trim it another time.
